A short presentation of Egaa Sailclub & Egaa Marina
Egaa Sailclub, which was foundatet in 1973, is located in the Egaa Marina, where the club has had its club facilities since 1978. At present the club has about 450 members.
In previous years Egaa Sailclub has been the centre for several large regatta events, from World Championships, International events - e.g. Danish Olympic Spring Regatta - to Danish National Championships and has a fully sufficient staff of seasoned and competent regatta officials.
Egaa Marina - one of several large marinas in the area - is situated at the Aarhus Bay about 8 km (4,5 nm.) NE of Aarhus City. Aarhus - with its population of 250.000 - is the 2nd largest city in Denmark.
The Marina has permanent berthing facilities for 600 keelboats and extensive areas with launching pontoons to serve dinghy sailors and trolling fishers.
Located within the Marina are - in addition to the Egaa Sailclubs house, built with the united effort of club members - also available:
- Boat chandlery with a large choice of equipment
- Restaurant / Pub
- Playground / Minigolf
- Kiosk & Provision Store
The Marina is served by frequent buses from the bus terminal in Aarhus (more than 3 dep. per hours).
Climate and weather:
The months July and August contains some of the best summerweather in Denmark. The average temperature is 18 deg. C (65 F) and the water temperature about 16 deg. C. The average number of days with rainfall is 10 in July and 14 in August, of which are due to occasional thunderstorms. The average monthly rainfall is about 70 mm in July and August.
The winddirections in the area are mainly from SW-W-NW with 56%, while the directions S-SE cover
19%. The waters of Aarhus Bay are sheltered, except for S and SE winds, but in July and August the
average monthly number of days with winds above 6 Bf. is 1 (one).
